Jacques Gauthe - Russian Lullaby

(Já agora o texto)
On June 10, 2007, Jacques Gauthe, Jazz legend and student of Sidney Bechet died while on tour in Europe. He was a proud traditionalist and torchbearer of the old New Orleans school of jazz. He had lived in New Orleans for 40 years. He was a gracious ambassador of jazz to Europe and hosted many jazz groups at Fritzel's for several months each year. Katrina was not kind to Jacques and his family. They lost most everything including their home but in his usual way Jacques summed it all up by saying that family and music were what he lived for. He died living his art. His family and friends grieve at the loss of this valued friend and partner. At Fritzel's Jazz Club on a quiet night in May Jacques Gauthe leads the pack in Russian Lullaby with Ryan Burrage on reeds, Jim Hession on piano and Bryan Besse on drums.
